Zanaco set to leave for North Africa on Friday

Zambia’s CAF Confederations Cup envoys Zanaco are expected to leave for Tunisia this Friday ahead of return leg tie against Stade Gabesien.

The bankers have been shaping up at Sunset Stadium this week with a clean bill of health though there was scare after influential midfielder Salulani Phiri picked up a knock in training on Tuesday morning.

Salulani, subsequently missed the afternoon session but should be back in training today.

Winger Augustine Mulenga is back in training after a 2 weeks absence with a minor knock while Charles Zulu, who has been linked with a $150, 000 move to Gabesien was jovial in training and looked geared for the battle in Tunis.

Coach Numba Mummba is expected to name his final travelling squad for the Tuesday tie on Thursday.

The Zambian side are positive of scoring in Tunis.

The first leg at Nkoloma Stadium ended 1-1.

Meanwhile Zesco United are back in training as they prepare for a return leg against Stade Malien at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

The Zambian Champions have a 3-1 aggregate from the first leg.

  2. Why not reserve those resources or use them for youth development! Why go on a tour of N . Africa to only spend money for fucko! Just stay home losers. The club president must be a big f00l to let the team go on this fruitless tour!

  3. We are entitled to different opinions and mine is that this tie is not yet decided. Zanaco have a pretty good chance of going through provided they play a compact game and treat each chance that comes their way like they will never be another of its kind. The top man has to be an experienced fellow. There is need to add more steel in midfield. Salulani can definitely outsmart the Algerian team’s midfielders provided his contingent in the middle of the park is well picked.
