Zambia Super League side Zanaco Football Club has traveled to Tanzania for an international pre-season friendly game against Singida Big Stars Football Club.
Zanaco is looking to fine-tune their team ahead of the 2022/2023 MTN Super League season.
The Bankers become the second Zambian side to confirm a friendly match with Tanzanian outfit after Champions Arrows who are set to face Tanzania Champions Young Africans Sports Club on 6th August 2022 in Dar es salaam to mark Yanga’s celebration of its Citizens Week.
The match between Zanaco and Singida will take place on 4th of August in Singida,Tanzania. This is on readiness for the 2022/2023 Super League Season.
Head coach Kelvin Kaindu wants the Bankers to keep their good record in Tanzania going. The Bankers beat Yanga 2-1 in front of 60,000 fans thanks to strikes from Ackim Mumba and Kelvin Kapumbu.
“We were invited by Yanga SC last season and again we have been invited by Singida to play an international friendly. They are preparing for the Premier League season and we are ready mentally, Psychologically and physically. We just hope we can put up the best with whatever players that are available,” he said.
“It is like a 10 hours on the road from Dar es Salaam to Singida which means we will miss 2 days of training but an international friendly match exposes you more in areas you need to work on. After the tournament, we have seen areas we need to work on, it is our finishing.”
“We have a good record in Tanzania and we just want to keep that momentum going and hopefully come back with a positive result but it is not going to an easy game maybe because of the field we will be playing on.
“We want to go with a proper mindset and believe it is possible, we can do it. Last season we beat Yanga SC away from home we can still replicate what we did last season,” he added.
Salulani Phiri, Boyd Musonda, Obino Chisala, Ackim Mumba, Eric Owusu, and Felix Bulaya lead the Bankers squad that has traveled for the game.
Kaindu will hope to put their four team tournament misery behind him and hope to get a decent result and performance in East Africa.
