Zanaco ends NAPSA Stars’ five-match unbeaten run

Sensational Zanaco recorded only their second win in five games as they edged NAPSA Stars 2-1 to end the Pensioners five match unbeaten run.

Inconsistent Zanaco came into the match looking to make it three wins in a row in the fixture.

Zanaco broke the deadlock just 14 minutes into the match as Souleymanou Moussa headed in from close range.

The Pensioners rallied back to level matters in the 33rd minute as Keegan Zulu headed in an Augustine Mulenga corner.

In the second half, Substitute, Tshite Mweshi came off the bench to score a header in the 79th minute to seal a win for Kaindu’s men.

Kelvin Kaindu is left excited with the win describing the result as a hard fought win for his side.

“I think it’s a hard-fought victory for us but at the end of the day we managed to pick up the maximum points which we have been desperately looking for especially since it was a derby,” he said.

“We took an early lead but then again gave it away. We gave away an easy goal so worried about how we defended.”

Meanwhile Perry Mutapa was left especially disappointed that his team lost to a Zanaco side that he thinks did not play as well as his team.

“Once again losing to Zanaco when I think on the balance of play we were a better team but what can we do? You have to score to win and they did,” he said.

“I think the mistake we made with Chaniza led to the goal. It’s a learning curve for most of the players, we will keep on fighting. Losing to Zanaco, again for I don’t think I can get. Very disappointed to lose to Zanaco. In terms of play, you could see we played better.”
