Zanaco beat Sudanese giants Al Merreikh 2-1 in the second leg of the CAF Champions League tie at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium on Saturday.
Despite the win, the bankers dropped to the CAF Confederations Cup because of an inferior 4-2 goal aggregate.
Trailing 3-nil from the first leg in Cairo, the bankers were stunned after Omayarue gave the visitors the lead in the 13th minute. The seven times Zambian Champions piled pressure and were rewarded 10 minutes later with an Emmanuel Manda continental debut goal.
The Lusaka based side pushed for a goal but no avail until four minutes from full time when Abraham Siankombo scored the winning goal.

Zambian Champions Zesco United and Kabwe Warriors were eliminated in the previous rounds.
