Zambian trio of former Chipolopolo captain Rainford Kalaba and defenders Tandi Mwape and Kabaso Chongo have been crowned Vodacom Ligue 1 champions in DR Congo.
This follows the Congolese Association Football Federation (FECOFA) cancellation of the 2019/20 season due to the Coronavirus epidemic. This means Moise Katumbi’s TP Mazembe has now won the Championship for a record 18th time.
The title is Tandi Mwape’s first silverware with the Ravens while it’s the fifth and eighth Vodacom league 1 title for Kabaso and Kalaba respectively.

The DR Congo Vodacom League one has played 21 rounds (some 20) of matches with the Ravens leading the log with 53 points followed by AS Vita with 42 points and they will both represent their nation in the CAF Champions League.
Third and fourth-placed Maniema Union and Motema Pembe respectively have qualified for the Confederation Cup in the absence of the DR Congo Cup.
Jeunesse Sportive de Kinshasa and Étoile Jaune of Lubumbashi have won promotion while Bukavu Dawa and Nyuki have been relegated to Ligue 2.
DRC is the third African country to end their league due to the Coronavirus and declare champions after Kenya and Congo Brazaville. Other Countries like Guinea, Angola, Mauritania, and Niger have also canceled their season, but without crowing champions.

Congratulations to all of our players and the TP Mazembe team as a whole for their hard work
Congratulations TP M.
