Zambian players abroad : Barbara, Kangwa, Lubambo and Salulani on target

Zambian players abroad were in action over the weekend with mixed results. Evans Kangwa , Lubambo Musonda and Barbara Banda found the back of the net.

In South Africa, Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga put in decent shifts for Orlando Pirates who played out to a goalless draw against Maritzburg United. The duo is expected to be in action tomorrow in the CAF Champions League.

Salulani Phiri scored the opener in Polokwane City’s 2-1 win over Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday.

Mwape Musonda put in a full shift for Black Leopards however he was on the losing end as Bidvets Wits managed a narrow one nil win.

Striker Gamphani Jones Lungu played the last 27 minutes for Supersport United who suffered a two goals to one loss at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns. Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene was an unused substitute.

Former Zambia National Team coach Wedson Nyirenda and Davies Nkausu had an off weekend.

In DRC, Rainford Kalaba put in a good 61 minute shift as TP Mazembe put Mont Bleu to the sword with a 3-1 victory. Nathan Sinkala was rested after returning from Injury while Kabaso Chongo was suspended.

In Tanzania, Clatous Chama will be in action with his Simba Team mates in the a CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg encounter.

In Austria, Midfield ace Enock Mwepu put in an 82 minute shift for Redbull Salzburg as they managed a narrow one nil win over Rheindorf Altach .

Striker Patson Daka was an unused substitute while Brian Mwila was not part of the Altach match day squad. Japanese striker Takumi Minamino scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute.

In Armenia, Lubambo Musonda scored the third goal as Gandzasar Kapan beat Pyunik 3-1 on Sunday. The goal was Lubambo’s fifth in the league this season.

In Belgium, Striker Fashion put in a 69 minute shift as KV Oostende labored to an away 1-1 draw with Zulte-Waregem. Midfieder Emmanuel Banda was an unused substitute.

In France, Defender Stophila Sunzu put in a 90 minute shift for FC Metz who dropped two points following a 1-1 draw away at
Grenoble Foot 38.

In Portugal,Winger Kenneth Kalunga put in a full shift for CF União Lamas who suffered a one nil defeat at the hands of SC S. João de Ver.

In Russia, Evans Kangwa scored a brace to help Arsenal Tula to a 4-2 win over log leaders Zenit St Petersburg.The brace is his second in the last two games.

In Spain, Zambia Women national team star forward Barbara Banda was on target on Saturday for her Spanish Feminina league side EDF Logroño who played out to a 2-2 draw with Fundaćion Albacente.

  1. Ive never been a big fan of Saulani Phiri but having watched him in the last couple of games for Polokwane I will say the guy has really stepped up his game of late.

  2. I agree. We should exploit the fact that he is on form right now. But then again with us out of the AFCON it seems like a lost cause right now.

      Zenit are a big team in Russia with names like brazilian center forward the hulk “Givanildo Vieira de Souza” having played there before moving to China

      They are not a small club, amoung the top 4 in Russia
