Zambian midfield ace Emmanuel Banda has sent an emotional message to retired South African young midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa. The news of Meyiwas retirement came as a shock and a big heart break to many African footballers and Banda took to social media to show his support for the young midfielder.
The KV Oostende on loan midfielder to AS Braziers in French Ligues two was left devastated by the news of his friends forced early retirement. Kaiser Chiefs announced the early termination of Meyiwas contract after it was discovered that he won’t play football again.
Meyiwa is still wheelchair-bound, but undergoing therapy. However, tragically, the current diagnosis is that he will not walk again.
“For a colleague who went from being a fellow footballer to a friend, Wiseman Meyiwa. News of your accident broke my heart and now news of you going into retirement has shattered me. We met through the game that we both love with everything in us,the game that unified and will forever unify us. I am lost for words at this sad development but I want you to know that you are not alone in this. Be rest assured that you won’t walk this journey alone my dear friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family through this trying moment. To the world, you may just be a Chief’s midfielder, but to me,you are a friend who will always be at heart, one who will always be a shining example to me and for this, I will always pray for your quick recovery.
With love, Emmanuel JR Banda.”

Meyiwa was part of the South Africa U20 national team that qualified to the World Cup back in 2017. The Amajita lost by a lone goal to Zambia in the semi-finals of the 2017 U20 AFCON tournament on route to the World Cup.

Meyiwa was forced to retire two days ago at the age of 19 after being rendered a paraplegic (Paraplegia is an impairment in motor or sensory function of the lower extremities caused by spinal cord injury) following a motor vehicle accident in 2018.
