Zambia Women’s U-20 advised to work on fitness levels

Zambia Women’s U20 national team hosted Malawi U-20 girls at sunset stadium in a friendly game on Tuesday as both teams are preparing for their respective Costa Rica/Panama 2020 World Cup preliminary round return leg qualifiers.

Zambia came out tops as they managed a 1-0 win thanks to a Salome Phiri second-half strike.

After the match, Malawi coach Kondwani Mwalweni advised the junior Copper Queens technical bench to work on players’ fitness.

“My advice to the Zambia squad, I think they should improve on fitness because most of the girls seemed not to be physically fit but footwork they are just okay,” he said.

The Malawi coach further said that the friendly game will help his team a lot because they have seen their weaknesses which they can work on but they will work on ahead of their clash with Zimbabwe.

Zambia will this weekend travel to South Africa to play their second leg and they are looking to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg.

The winner between South Africa and Zambia will face either Namibia or Botswana in the next round.
