Zambia were mediocre at AFCON, need to find new players says former Zambia coach

Former Zambia coach Dario Bonetti has weighed in concerning the Chipolopolo’s performance at the CAF 2023 African Cup of Nations.

Zambia failed to progress from the group stage.

Zambia coach Avram Grant has already hit out at the Football Association of Zambia, FAZ for poor organisation.

Former Chipolopolo Boys coach Bonetti has also chipped in and offered his opinions on how the team fared.

“Overall, Zambia played mediocre. I believe that to be competitive, they must allow the young people to grow, but they need to find new quality players,” says Bonetti

“It is not my responsibility to express an opinion on the work done Mr. Grant,” said Dario Bonetti

The Italian qualified Zambia to the 2012 African Cup of Nations but was sacked by FAZ.

  1. Especially number 2 and 3. Coach should identity good players who can play those numbers. Also a replacement for the aging sunzu is needed quickly.

  2. the best analysis is the true analysis. And Dario Bonetti has spoken the truth. The players must know football is won by scoring more goals and good defending and relentless energy and winning balls. It was as if these players had their legs tied up. they were slow to ball, gave yards of space to opponents, they were scared to venture forward and easily lost ball possession. The only way is to find better players who are psychologically ready because the football in Africa is competitive.
