Zambia vs Mozambique – Player ratings

Zambia’s journey for a possible fourth appearance at the CHAN tournament ended on Saturday after a 1-0 defeat to Mozambique at Lusaka’s Heroes Stadium.

The Black Mambas will now face Malawi in the final round.

The ZamFoot Crew now looks at the performance of the players in what was a very below par all round outing.

GK- Charles Kalumba- 6, The Red Arrows shot stopper made a number of good saves but could have done better for the goal. He was slow to react, his reflexes let him down.

LB- Luka Chamanga 5- A workaholic who tried to do some dirt work on the left wing but it was not enough on the day.

RB- Benedict Chepeshi- 5, The Captain of the side showed some flashes but he was nowhere near his best and at times looked lost while in possession.

CB- Allan Kapila -4.5 He was below par. Not his best day.

CB- Dominic Chanda- 4 , Another player who was below for all his qualities at club level he did not just show up. He was slow to react for the goal affording Lau King all the time in the world to pick his spot and score the goal.

DMF- Kelvin Kapumbu 6- It was an average outing for the New ZESCO United midfield workaholic though among the few players who even showed a little fight during the match.

CMF – Patrick Gondwe- 4, Below par performance for a player of his quality. He had a number of bad touches and quite a few misplaced passes, He just did not show up on the day.

LW- Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, 4.5, Apart from a few crosses, Kemuka was an absentee in the match. A man who could have easily won the match for Zambia but did not show up.

RW- Albert Kangwanda, 4.5- Mostly absent in the game except for once chance which he failed to utilize pulling his header wide.

AMF- Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale, 5- An exciting young prospect but again his final ball let him down. Did well to get past defenders and make runs but his final ball was a let down.

CF- Ricky Banda, 4.5- The forward fresh from being named 2021/2022 MTN Super League player of the year was expected to be the main man but unfortunately he failed to live up to the expectations.

He had a good chance to score but failed to convert.
