Zambia U20 to face Nigeria, Senegal

The Zambia U-20 national is set to play three International friendly matches in West Africa, the Football Association of Zambia has confirmed. 

According to a statement by FAZ Communications Manager Sydney Mungala and  availed to the ZamFoot Crew, The junior Copper Bullets will face Nigeria and Senegal. 

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has organized three international friendly matches for the Egypt 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations bound junior Chipolopolo with Nigeria and Senegal.”

Zambia will play Nigeria on January 27th and 30th  in Abuja before heading to Dakar to play Senegal on 2nd February.

The TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON 2023 kicks off on February 19 to March 11 in Egypt.

Nigeria is in Group A with hosts Egypt, Senegal and Mozambique while Zambia is in Group C with Benin, Gambia, and Tunisia.

Zambia last participated at the U20 AFCON in 2017 on home soil where they lifted the crown and qualified to the FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan.

The top four teams (semifinalists) at the AFCON will qualify to the FIFA World Cup.

The TotalEnergies Egypt 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 19 February to 11 March 2023. The host cities are Cairo (Group A), Ismailia (Group B) and Alexandria (Group C).

The twelve-nation tournament will begin with a mouth-watering opening game between hosts Egypt and Mozambique on Sunday 19 February 2023 at 16h00 local time.
