Zambia to open Cosafa title defence against Malawi

The countdown is on as Eswatini and Botswana will kick-off the 2023 HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Cup when they clash at the King Zwelithini Stadium in a Group A fixture at 15h00 CAT on July 5.

That opening match will be followed by a meeting of old rivals as hosts South Africa take on Namibia at the same venue at 18h00, providing an intriguing opening day to the best regional competition in Africa.

Defending champions Zambia get their campaign under way with another titanic tussle when they take on Malawi on July 6 at 18h00, with an all-island clash between Seychelles and Comoros preceding that game in Group B.

The Group C fixtures start on July 7 when Mauritius take on Lesotho (15h00), before a Lusophone derby between Mozambique and Angola at 18h00.

The final rounds of fixtures in Groups A and B will be played on July 11, with both the Chatsworth Stadium and Princess Magogo Stadium in use, with the pool stages to be completed the following day with the final round in Group C.

The semifinals will be staged on July 14 as the winner of Group B takes on the top side in Group C, while the winner of Group A meets the best placed runner-up from across the three pools.

The third-place play-off is on July 16 at 15h00, with the final on the same day at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
