The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has cancelled the scheduled international friendly match for the Zambia national team against Ethiopia citing a congested fixture list.
The Chipolopolo were scheduled to play Ethiopia this Saturday on 27th May before proceeding to face Gabon on 4th June.
“Some teams may have had to do without their key players for the league over three fixtures, had the national team gone ahead with its marathon camp,” a statement from FAZ stated.
The team will however regroup on Sunday before flying out to Gabon.
Zambia play in the Africa Cup of Nations Group K qualifier against Mozambique on June 10 in Ndola, Cosafa Senior Challenge tussle on July 1 against Botswana before facing Swaziland later in July in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) second round qualifiers.
Incompetence; they knew what the fixture list was prior to accepting the friendly. Very disorganized.
Bad decision . Our competitors manage to play two freindlies on Fifa days and inevitably earn points for the rankings. Are you still asking why we have such a low ranking ???
and you are still asking why we are so lowly ranked by FIFA. Our competitors manage two freindlies during FIFA windows meanwhile we are suddenly realising that our fixtures will be congested – poor planning bane !!!
