The international friendly match between Zambia and Namibia which was scheduled for Sunday, 12th June at Nkoloma stadium has been cancelled.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) confirmed the development stating that the cancellation was at the request of the Namibian government.
The Chipolopolo were looking to use the match to shape-up for the Cosafa Cup tournament which kicks off this weekend, with Zambia joining the competition at the quarter final stage which kick off on the 18th of June.
Below is the statement from FAZ…
“Please be advised that the international friendly match between Zambia and Namibia which was scheduled to be played at Nkoloma Stadium will not take place on Sunday, June 12 as earlier announced.
The match has been cancelled at the request of the Government of the Republic of Namibia due to the 2016 Castle Cosafa Cup competition to be hosted by Namibia from June 11.

So you mean to tell me someone did not know that the Cosafa tournament start was scheduled for this date when they planned this? I’m trying hard to give Kamanga and his camp a benefit of doubt but this is clearly not the way to start off your tenure. I sense a one termer at this rate!
Zambia and Namibia only join the tournament on the 18th of June. So playing this game this weekend was not going to affect anything. Namibia should just be honest and say they have no money for this friendly. How can we honestly justify blaming Kamanga for this, like really even if we are trying to clutch at straws in trying to find things to blame the man for, really now. Namibia cancelling is Kamanga’s fault…awe shuwa kwena but!!!!
Going by the reason given for the cancellation, I stand by what I said. My aim at Kamanga is based on a number of mis-steps that make me question his preparedness for the job. We need to quit with this cult of personalities and simply call out wrong for what it is regardless of who the person is bro.
We actually need to move away from such games…we never learn anything from playing the likes of Namibia…the eventually being to beat us and MAKE US MISS OUT ON HUGE TOURNAMENTS!

FAZ is in trouble. The heat is on.I wish they can vividly remember how they used to criticise the Kalusha lead FAZ. Kalusha was not as they portrayed himn to be. He was and still he is a gentle.He is yet to make comments on how FAZ is messing up. Zambia’s football situation is pathetic.

Remember those friendlies against Japan and Brazil. I watched those games and I was of the belief that at long last Zambia’s football was destined for greater heights. Chisamba and Lubambo were causing havoc on the right side while ‘The Master’ did likewise on the opposite end. Japan and Brazil were scared as they witnessed ‘bola panshi’. Now look at what is happening.
And we had a foreign coach that was why.

yes we lost 5-1 to cameroon but that was the only defeat we had at that in our group in 2008 AFCON, we beat SUDAN 2-0, lost to CAMEROUN 5-1 & draw with EGYPT 1-1 to say the truth we were drawn in a group of death, coz even the final was between EGYPT VS CAMEROUN in which EGYPT won 1-0. PATRICK PHIRI is better than CHICKEN who failed to beat minows GUINEA BISSAU.
in 2008 EGYPT was hot they beat all team in Ghana acept ZAMBIA we draw 1-1. they beat COTE D VIORE 5-1, CAMEROON 4-1, SUDAN 3-0 etc, but PATRICK PHIRI they failed to beat us, not under CHICKEN we are failing to beat TOGO, GAMBIA & GUINEA BISSAU. wht a useless coach we have, playing KATEMA ahead of FC URAL CAPTAIN CHISAMBADINHO that can show you the dullness of the coach.

I see your reasoning,but still we just need a foreign coach really fast,let Patrick be assistant if he has value in that way the head coach (a foreign),can select players based on performance not kickbacks or bribes. Zesco has withdrawn its coach to concentrate on the CAF Champions league. Nkama has also withdrawn its coach to concentrate on winning the league. The national soccer team is still in camp preparing for cosafa. stand in coach is Eljah Chikwanda. Nkana President, Mr.Kabila has urged FAZ to find its own coach if it needs results. Its only in Zambia where a national team cannot have a full time coach for 2 years.
