Zambia mint Bronze at the COSAFA U20 Region 5 Youth tournament

The Zambia U20 National Team beat Angola on post match penalties to clinch bronze at the 2025 COSAFA U20 Championship | Region V Youth Games in Windhoek, Namibia.

Zambia defeated Angola 5-4 on penalties after they had played to a 1-1 draw earning the Young Copper Bullets  the consolation of third on the podium.

Zambia went ahead 14 minutes into the match when Billy Daka headed in a cross from Mapalo Simute, rising above two Angola defenders to steer the ball into the net.

Zambia looked set to seal the win but Angola equalised from the penalty spot with a minute to go when AntĂ³nio Eduardo converted from 12 yards.

That led to a shoot-out and while Zambia converted all their spot-kicks, a sole miss for Angola meant they missed out on a medal.

Zambia was represented by the FIFA U17 World Cup-bound national team at this year’s COSAFA U20 Men’s Championship as part of preparations for the global showpiece.

Meanwhile the Girls will take on South Africa tomorrow in the final after they thrashed Botswana 4-0 in their Semifinal.

The Young Copper Queens are the defending Champions and will be eager to retain their title and continue their dominance.
