Zambia in Rwanda CHAN finals

The Zambia national team on Sunday afternoon qualified to the 2016 Rwanda CHAN championship after drawing 1 – 1 in the final leg qualifier to sail through on a 4 – 1 aggregate scoreline.

Zambia got off to a good start with Festus Mbewe putting George Lwandamina’s team ahead in the 19th minute for Zambia to go into the break with a comfortable 4 – 0 aggregate lead.

In the second half it was a seesaw affair with Zambia winning the midfield battles and looking comfortable.

Lwandamina then brought on Conlyde Luchanga for Festus Mbewe and Spencer Sautu for Mwape Mwelwa before Charles Zulu was pulled out for Moses Phiri after he sustained an injury.

However, Mozambique scored a consolation in the 85th minute from the spot which the Mozambican powered into the roof of the net giving Jacob Banda in the Zambia goal no chance.

Zambia then saw out the game with some exciting passing to seal a spot at the CHAN Championship which will be played in January 2016.

    • Donatiano Malama is a hardworking player. Well done Lwandamina, powerful good team balance.
But next time substitute Kalengo too in games like this, for sake of saving him as an asset.

  1. no more celebrations we hv been held by mozambique, its gud that we hv qualify but we are stil on de same level with minows like mozambique, guinea bissau. etc

  2. we hav remain with a mountain to climb SUDAN lets prepare 4 this game, no experiment coz they can finish de job in khartoum, like wht we hv did to mozambic.

  3. Some soccer fans need some soccer lessons. This is applicable to the Chipolopolo fan as well. The Liplanga you did not want in the team for the Mozambique game scored the only goal for Zambia in that encounter. There is some soccer knowledge to be acquired from this. I wonder how many of us could read something from this development. Well , here are a few things you can learn from it;-
1.Today’s game does not need skill alone. Tactical approach can replace skill. If Zambian fans thought Lwandamina would bring in a skilful player instead of Festus then one can forgive them for the differences they have in tactical approach to the one Ba-Lwandamina had settled for.

2.Every player,no matter how poor in terms of the game in the eyes of a fan can be useful. This explains the reason why the worst of players in Zambia and indeed any other country can don the Jersey of a premier league outfit or/ and also that of the nation.

3.Fans ought to accept some soccer related facts. One of those facts allows but only the technical bench to come up with the starting lineup for each game. The lineup is never a prerogative of any other person in spite of how powerful they are.

    4. We can have national lineups as many as ourselves. Some better than those of the coaches for the team but there is no one taking the place of an adjudicator. In that case thefore it is only the coach who is held answerable for the performance of the team and one can safely say s/he is the most better placed to pick a team.

  4. Unless you are looking at other results I don’t see how you can be on the same level with a team you have beaten 4-1. Coach Chicken deserves a part on his back. Look at how much he has rebuilt the defense, the entire squad is just encouraging. One good thing is that Lwandamina is a listening coach. Congratulations technical bench for a job well done!

  5. This is not something to celebrate can we be serious mozambique is a useless team. When was the last time they won afcon or went to cosafa. Our under 20 qualified for the afcon at the expense of mozambique what happened there? They were wires by every team. Lest be serious we have a lot to do. This chicken is actually a useless coach even Janza Beat a full strength mozambique in maputo. Chicken was exposed against Egypt. He is not good enough to take us to Russia 2018.

    • I have to agree with you sir. While this qualification is welcome, it should not mask the fact that we have issues that must be addressed. Beating Mozambique is formality. Our main focus has to be Russia.

  6. Good job but do not be carried away by this victory as Mambas are a useless and pathetic side.Sudan will be a very differemt preposition altogether hence we need to draft serious lads and please chicken no experiments make sure we hammer them big to zero to make return leg easier

  7. Ba ZamFoot, What exciting passes did Zambia put up? In fact Mozambique played better soccer let alone being poor finishers. Zambia “ni bacipante pante fye” the boys are very weak and will never go far against West African teams.

  8. Congrats Chicken & de boys. Its not easy but u proved it 2 all thoz doubtin thomases.Ushitasha mwana wandoshi. Come on zmfoot & other soccer fans, lets give sapot where its due.Dnt just condemn always. To de technical bench & de boys, pliz dnt go 2 sleep.De battle line has been drawn, prep adequately 4 Rwanda,& to FAZ,pliz mobilise all de machinery 2 see 2 it that de team preps well & subsquently performs exceptional. GO GO GO ZAMBIA GOOO…………

  9. congraturations 2 de chipopololo boyz, de guyz de have showed de world dat they r better than mozambique and as at now de mozambican knw dat they cannot bit zambia evr in there football careers.
again i congrat zambia job wel done. GO GO GO ZAMBIA GOOOO………………

  10. Even Me,i Know Him Always Negative.Congrate Mr Chicken And The Entire Techanical Bench.Zambia Is Improvin Everyday And The Selection Is Good.Continue Working Hard.
