Inaugural African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament semi finalist Zambia has been given a relatively fair draw after they were grouped alongside West African powerhouse Ivory coast and Uganda from East Africa for the finals to be staged in Morocco.
There’s a Southern Africa mini derby against Namibia who complete group B.
Zambia played Ivory Coast who were the hosts in the inaugural tournament in 2009 and they won 3 – 0 on their wayto the semi finals where they lost 2 – 1 to eventual winners DR Congo.
The Chipolopolo missed the two tournaments that followed before returning to South Africa where they met Uganda in the group stage who they beat 1 – 0 before crashing put at the quarter final stage after losing to Guinea on penalties.
The Zambian local guns we unstoppable on their path to the finals drawing only once and winning three times in four games.
The Wedson Nyirenda coached side whitewashed Swaziland 7 – 0 on aggregate over two legs after they won 4 – 0 in Swaziland before drawing 2 – 2 against South Africa who they later beat at home 2 – 0.
Group B will be based in Marrakech.
The tournament starts on January 13.

Sate sate Is inform, mst be part of de team
Sate sate Is a very intelligent striker in local leage.
He has a very big disadvantage- He is too short and a paper weight (too small). At least if he was short but storky (heavy).
But Ngonga is a misfiring player and we don’t want the lame execuse that Zambia faired well. Sate Sate may be paper weight but he is intelligent unlike the headless Alex Ngonga who cost has in Nigeria. Zambia national team is for everyone.
This is an opportunity for local players to make their mark. The Charles Zulu boy from ZANACO impressed me in the Barclays Cup Final against NAPSA Stars. It was my first time watch him play. In Zambia we have lacked a Winger like that for a long time. Pace, ability to take on players and cross for the Central Strikers.
These are the players the Coach should call and work with them. It’s sad that our Coach Wadda sometimes gets personal and hyped over certain issues. Personally I feel he made a mistake to leave R.Kalaba & Nathan Sinkala out of the W.C Qualifier against Nigeria.
The coach should forget about Alex Ngong’a for CHAN tournament. If he was watching the game between 10 man Zanaco am sure he will eat the humble pie and leave Ng’onga for once like he did to Kalaba.
Alex ngonga was a damn good player before the Gabon fiasco, wada should just leave him out he will cost the team big time, today against zanaco he was misfiring at all cylinders.
Time to win CHAN.
Sate is a local league player and not international; stature, lazy all these are draw backs for a striker.
Awe baneni, is Alex Ng’onga a national team material? Come on, that boy Alex is in class for Bonwell Mwape and Festus Mbewe who are not national team material. Punch to Punch Sate Sate he is far much better than the three musketeers. Records are there and thats what make someone to be outstanding. You can’t compare Zambia to Namibia who have never won AFCON before same as Sate Sate two time Top Scorer in our local which is not porridge that can be fed to misfiring players at all cylinders like @Discipline had put it, Sate Sate is not corrupt and that’s the reason why corrupt chaps stab him.
Why do I feel like our time for a CHAN glory has arrived?
If wada add sate sate and Charles z.will win.
Please please coach wAddam Augustin mulenga has to be a first player to be called he’s on fire. He’s got pace and an eye for the ballast, its time Zambia won a chan tournament.
“Eye for the ball”
Sate Sate plys his trade in Turkey n for this reason is not eligible for this tournament.
Wada should bring back Clatous Chama n yes that boy Charles Zulu is a marvel to watch.
Zambia will not get past Ivory Coast and Uganda period.
We always got wrong, praising our major problem.we don’t want to analysis football the it supposed be.thanks
Zambia can beat Uganda and ivory coast
