The Zambia U15 team took home a prize of $75,000 (about K1,950,000) after finishing as runners-up in the 2024 CAF African Schools Football Championship | COSAFA Qualifiers.
The squad coached by former Chipolopolo international William Njobvu fell short in the final, losing to defending champions South Africa 4-2 on penalties after the match finished 1-1 in normal time.
Forward Sydney Zulu, who scored Zambia’s goal in the final, picked his second Player of the Match Award.
The Zambia U15 schools team impressed throughout the competition, with Kayele primary school pupil Temwani Simfukwe named Player of the Tournament after scoring three goals, one short of Malawi’s Okester Kanyenda who took home the Golden Boot.
Zambia goalkeeper William Zulu won the Golden Glove Award as best goalkeeper and South Africa took home the $100,000 winner’s prize and the Fair Play award.
