Zambia, and the 17 other teams that have already qualified for AFCON 

Eighteen teams have so far booked their places at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Côte d’Ivoire 2023. 

Ghana and Tanzania are the latest teams to book their places at the continental showpiece. 

Ghana booked their place after a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Central African Republic on Thursday.

Tanzania on the other hand qualified for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2019 after securing a heroic 0-0 draw away to Algeria on Thursday.

The Copper Bullets of Zambia secured their slot on match day 5 thanks to a 3-0 win over Ivory Coast at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. 

Others who have booked their places include Zambia’s rivals for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Morocco, Algeria, defending Champions, Senegal, record seven time winners Egypt and North African giants Tunisia.
