YOUTHFUL PATAAKI HOLD YASA AT JARMY

Yasa welcomed Pataaki on Wednesday afternoon in a Lusaka FAZ Women’s League rescheduled week 13 encounter at Jarmy (Yasa grounds).

The match which was scheduled for 15:00 started 30 minutes late with Yasa expected to carry the day prior to kick-off given that they were at home against a young Pataaki side.

Yasa was the first to break the deadlock as they found the back of the net following miscommunication at the back and a shot from Christine deflected by a defender found its way in the net putting the home side in the lead.

Pataaki started to quickly get back in the match with Zambia U-17 midfield genius Josephine Phiri leading the charge and combining well with Inonge to create chances for Jessy Phiri and speedy Pauline Zulu upfront and giving the likes of Botswana Women’s national team player Thanda Mokgabo a tough time in the middle of the park.

Pataaki finally leveled matters minutes before half time as Jessy Phiri’s sweetly taken free-kick from range beat Zambia U-20 goalkeeper Anna Mukumbuta in the YASA goal.

In the second half YASA had chances to take the lead but they failed to take advantage of their chances at times they even failed to make the Pataaki goalkeeper work, The Pataaki defense was also very alert with the likes of Paulina and Zambia U-17 left-back Patricia Mumba putting in a shift and half.

Rhoda Nakanyika had a good game for YASA at right-back and made some brilliant crosses but the front line on the day was blunt and they clearly missed Botswana U-17 goal machine Michelle Abeung who watched the match from the sidelines having just come back from Botswana the day before.

In the end, it was a well deserved away point for the young Pataaki side who held there own against powerful Yasa.
