Young guns beat Morocco at FIFA TDS Tournament

Atletico Lusaka’s Abel Salim Nyirongo scored a brace as Zambia U16 beat Morocco on Thursday.

The win was Zambia’s second at the FIFA Development Tournament which is taking place in Ivory Coast.

Zambia beat Tanzania 4-1 on post match penalties after a 2-2 draw in their opening match.

Nyirongo put Zambia in the lead 20 minutes into the match with a close range finish off a Jonathan Kalimina cross.

The Atletico Lusaka forward doubled the lead in the 42nd minute with a beautiful strike from outside the box after beating a defender.

Morocco pulled one back in the second half but Zambia held on to win the match 2-1.

The Zambia U16 Boys will end their campaign with a tricky fixture against Algeria on Saturday at the 2024 FIFA TDS Tournament.

  1. Ba Mubanga, who are these “young guns”? Zambia is called “Chipolopolo”, translated as “bullet” to English. So the bullet is not a gun, it’s put into a gun. So two different things, aini ba Mubanga!
