Young Copper Queens thrash Eswatini to maintain winning start 

The Zambia U20 Women’s National Team thrashed Eswatini 8-0 to maintain their winning start to the ongoing COSAFA U20 Girls Championship| Region V Youth Games in Windhoek, Namibia. 

Ruth Mukoma was the star of the day netting five goals to lead the Charity Nthala coached side to victory. 

Lweendo Hanongo headed in the opener off a Lombanya Mwewa corner before Mukoma added a second from close range. 

Mukoma doubled her tally four minutes later with another composed close range finish. Bwalya Namute Chileshe made it 4-0 with her fourth goal of the tournament. 

Mukoma then took over with a hat-trick scoring in the 23rd, 33rd and 42nd minute to take her tally to five goals in the first half. 

In the second stanza, Grace Phiri came off the bench to net the eighth goal as the Young Copper Queens saw off helpless Eswatini eight goals to nil. 

The win means the Young Copper Queens have gone through the group stage minus conceding a single goal while scoring 19 goals. Mukoma was named as the player of the match thanks to her brilliant performance and five goals.

They will face the runners up in group B on Friday in the semifinals as they look to defend their COSAFA crown.
