YANGA SC continues dominance over Simba SC with narrow Community shield win

Young Africans edged their arch rivals Simba SC 1-0 on Thursday evening to seal a spot in the final of the Tanzania Community shield.

The win means YANGA SC have continued their dominance over their rivals, Simba SC, making it three straight wins in a row.

The match’s only goal came in the 44th minute, courtesy of Maxi Nzengeli.

Nzengeli capitalised on a well-executed combination with Pacome Zouzoua and Prince Dube, driving the ball past Simba’s goalkeeper and into the net.

Forner Power Dynamos winger Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale started the match and was a constant threat for the YANGA SC defenders though his final ball let him down.

Kennedy Musonda and Clatous Chota Chama started on the bench for Young Africans.

The win overall is Yanga SC’s 41st since 1965 in 112 matches with Simba winning 32 and 40 matches ending in draws.

YANGA will face Azam FC in the final on Sunday after their thrilling 5-2 victory over Coastal Union.
