Xtenda kit COSAFA Champions, Green Buffaloes

Microfinance institution, Xtenda Finance Limited on Thursday donated assorted football equipment to Green Buffaloes Women’s Football club worth K680,000.

Xtenda handed over four sets of jerseys (three playing kits, and a warm up kit), relaxing attire, tracksuits, breast holders, bibs, boots, sneakers among other items.

At an event held at Arakan Barracks, Xtenda managing Director, Clergy Simatyaba said it was an easy decision to kit the COSAFA Champions.

“It was an easy decision for us. We have a working relationship with the Zambia Army,” he said.

Army Commander, Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi who was the Guest of honor said the donation by Xtenda and signing of Memorandum of understanding was timely and he wants to see the relationship between the two continue for many years to come.

“Am delighted to officiate at this event where Xtenda Zambia Limited will present sports kit to Green Buffaloes Women’s Football club. We will also witness the signing of a memorandum of Understanding between Xtenda and Green Buffaloes Women’s Football club,” he said.

“The coming on board of Xtenda Zambia Limited to partner with us in improving the welfare of Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club is really timely and I want to believe that this gesture will enhance our relationship for many years to come.”

“I want to mention that your team has made us very proud and I can only wish you well to continue performing and uplifting the name of the Zambia Army,” he added.

The Army Commander also called on the Corporate World to come on board and support the Army’s efforts.

“I also want to call up the corporate community to partner with the Zambia army to sponsor our various clubs,” he said.

” To the Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club officials and players I urge you to take care of the donated equipment and continue to perform well, lift the name of Xtenda and attract more corporate partners,” he added.

Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club together with Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will represent the COSAFA region at next month’s TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League.

Buffaloes qualified for their maiden tournament after they emerged as Champions of the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers last month held in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

The Zambia Army sponsored side has been drawn in Group A with hosts ASFAR FC of Morocco, bronze medalists in last year’s WCL, will face Simba Queens of Tanzania, and Determine Girls of Liberia.

Group B has TP Mazembe Women, defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa, Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria and Wadi Degla of Egypt in group B.

The TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League Morocco 2022 is scheduled to be played between 30 October 2022 and 13 November 2022.
