WSL Week 24 Preview: ZANACO Ladies vs Red Arrows Headlines Blockbuster Weekend

The ZPL Women’s Super League returns with a packed Week 24 programme as the title race, top-four battle and relegation fight all take centre stage, highlighted by a mouth-watering clash between ZANACO Ladies and Red Arrows Women in Lusaka.

ZANACO vs Arrows headline the weekend

The standout fixture of the round sees third-placed ZANACO Ladies host fifth-placed Red Arrows Women at Sunset Stadium on Sunday. With just four points separating the two sides, the encounter could have major implications in the race for the top four.

ZANACO, led by Regina Chanda, will be eager to bounce back after a narrow defeat to Indeni Roses, while Arrows will rely on the experience and goal threat of Mary Mambwe in what promises to be a fiercely contested affair.

Buffaloes eye return to the summit

Elsewhere on Sunday, Green Buffaloes Women face Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles Queens at REIZ Arena.

Buffaloes have a chance to reclaim top spot after leaders ZESCO Ndola Girls were held to a goalless draw by Nchanga Rangers Queens. With an impressive recent run, Buffaloes start as favourites, but Kamfinsa, inspired by captain Namakau Mwangala, will be hoping to spring a surprise.

Saturday action: survival battles

Saturday’s fixtures offer intrigue across the table. Luyando Foundation Girls will be desperate to end a worrying losing streak when they face an in-form Konkola Blades Queens at Independence Stadium.

Luyando will lean on Elinah Mbewe and Tamika Simpamba, but Blades, under coach Enala Simbeye Phiri, boast attacking threats in Chisola Ng’andu, Towera Nkhata and Bupe Chulu.

At Nationalist Stadium, National Assembly Women host Trident Queens. Trident arrive in stronger form and will be targeting maximum points to climb the table, while Assembly Women will be fighting to steer clear of the relegation zone.

In Chipata, struggling Chipata Girls take on high-flying Indeni Roses. With Indeni riding a five-match winning streak, the hosts face a daunting task despite home advantage.

Meanwhile, Nkwazi Queens welcome YASA Queens at Edwin Imboela Stadium. Both sides are locked in the relegation fight, making this a crucial six-pointer. Nkwazi will look to Zewelanji Nambeye and Stacey Gloria Mwelwa, while YASA bank on Harriet Matipa, Natasha Mubanga and Eunice Bwalya.

Relegation battle in Kabwe

Sunday also sees Amazing Grace FC square off against ZISD FC at the ZNS Rugby Club Ground in Kabwe.

With both teams hovering dangerously close to the drop zone, this encounter could prove decisive. Ruth Muwowo will be key for Amazing Grace, while ZISD look to Ghanaian midfielder Mirriam Mohamed for inspiration.

Monday closer at REIZ Arena

The weekend action concludes on Monday as The Elite Ladies host Green Eagles Women at REIZ Arena. Eagles, chasing a strong finish to the season, will rely on the attacking quartet of Rachel Moono, Theresa Chewe, Cindy Banda and Sante Mukwata, while Elite Ladies aim to build momentum behind Saliya Mwanza and Blessings Naomi Moonga.
