WSL: Two horse race for the title

The battle for the FAZ Women’s Super Division will go to the wire with defending Champions Green Buffaloes Women’s Football club and challenges Red Arrows separated by a point with only two rounds of matches to go.

Red Arrows lead the log with 76 points while Buffaloes are second with 75 points.

The League will enter week 33 of action this weekend with the Red Arrows welcoming Trident Queens while Buffaloes battle Nkwazi Queens.

The two teams will both be keen to get wins in their games as any slip up could be costly at this point of the season.

The Airwomen will bank on the exploits of Ochumba Oseke Lubanji and Mary Mambwe to see off the Trident Queens challenge.

Trident are not a push over as well with the likes of Patricia Mumba, Josephine Phiri and Florence Kasonde looking to prove a point.

For Green Buffaloes the return of Natasha ‘Little Tasha’ Nanyangwe from injury has been a big boost.

Nanyangwe alongside Maylan Mulenga, Bwalya Namute Chileshe and Barbara Moyo will be eager to lead the coach Charles Haalubono tutored side to victory at Green Square.

Trident and Nkwazi have both mathematically survived relegation but will be looking to finish in a comfortable position on the log.

Elsewhere, Relegation threatened Play It Forward welcome relegated Prison Leopards Queens while National Assembly play host to another relegated side, Mufulira Wanderers Queens.

Lusaka is prime for to tier fixtures this weekend with YASA Queens hosting Zanaco Ladies being the highlight for Saturday.

On Sunday, Elite Ladies welcome ZESCO Ndola Girls to the Woodlands Stadium in a top tier tie.

League top goal scorer Xiomara Mapepa goes up against the defensive pairing of Vast Phiri and Melody Kapimpi with Avell Chitundu looking to continue her fine form in front of goal.

Relegation threatened, ZISD Women will be hoping to continue their winning run when they welcome Green Eagles at Independence Stadium.

Evarine Susan Katongo scored a late goal on Wednesday to help the Ku Chalo Girls to an important win in their fight for survival.
