WSL; Second round kicks off as Luyando welcome Eagles, ZANACO visit Nchanga, Buffaloes battles stubborn YASA as Blades play host to Arrows 

The ZPL Women’s Super League second round will kick off today after a short festive season break with some exciting matches taking centre stage. 

At Independence Stadium, Luyando Foundation Girls will be looking to continue where they left off before the break. 

The People’s favorite team of Choice are unbeaten in their last three matches with two wins and a draw. 

Meanwhile Eagles are winless in their last three games but face a team they have beaten three times in their last five meetings and only lost once. 

At Reiz Arena, The Elite Ladies welcome Nkwazi Queens at Reiz Arena. The hosts have enjoyed playing this fixture with four wins in the last five meetings. 

The Elite Ladies have however only won one of their last five matches. Nkwazi Queens on the other hand had two wins and a draw at the same time. 

Gloria Stacey Mwelwa faces her former side and will lead the attack for Nkwazi Queens alongside Zewelanji Nambeye while Phidah Muzuwa, Blessings Naomi Moonga and Saliya Mwanza will lead the charge for the Elite Ladies. 

At Nationalist Stadium, Ngosa Chabwe will look to build on her fine form as Indeni Roses visit National Assembly. 

Chabwe was in fantastic form in the first round scoring 9 goals and assisting 12 to help Indeni finish the first round in fifth place with 33 points from 17 games. 

Assembly on the other hand need maximum points desperately as they have only managed 10 points and sit just outside the relegation zone. 

In Kitwe, Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles welcome relegation threatened ZISD in a tricky encounter. 

Kamfinsa thrashed ZISD 6-2 in the first round and will be eager to add to that but the two teams are both winless in their last five games with only two points picked up by both from a possible 15. 

At Nchanga Stadium in Chingola, Nchanga Rangers Queens welcome the most in-form team in the league, ZANACO Ladies who have won their last nine games. 

Blessings Zangose Zulu and Regina Chanda have made a fantastic partnership scoring a combined 16 goals so far and will be looking to add to their tally. 

Meanwhile Nchanga Rangers Queens will be hoping their star studded line up with the likes of Mapalo Maluba, Lungowe Namasiku, Tricia Mabamba, Gracious Tailoshi, and Cynthia Mushili among others can come up with the answers for the Florence Mwila coached side. 

The Bankers Ladies beat Nchanga Rangers Queens 2-1 in the first round at Sunset Stadium. 

One of the most promising encounters this weekend sees Red Arrows Women visit Chililabombwe to face Konkola Blades Queens. 

The Airwomen are unbeaten in their last five games and will be looking to do a double on Konkola Blades Queens after beating them 2-0 in their first round. 

However coach Enala Simbeye Phiri and her team will be hoping to get their win in the second round. 

Chisomo Banda and Chisola Ng’andu will look to provide the attacking threat for the hosts while Arrows will look to the creativity of Mary Mukupa, Bupe Banda and Masela Sekeseke with the pace , trickery and goal threat that Mary Mambwe provides. 

On Sunday, Log leaders Green Buffaloes welcome stubborn YASA Queens, Amazing Grace play host to fellow strugglers Chipata Girls while defending Champions, ZESCO Ndola Girls are away to Trident Queens.
