Women’s Super League: ZISD give up a two-goal lead to draw with Mufulira Wanderers Queens

Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club on Wednesday afternoon gave up a 2-nil lead to force a draw against Mufulira Wanderers Women Football Club in a 4-goal thriller. The match was a rescheduled Week 13 of the 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League encounter played at Lusaka’s Independence Stadium.

ZISD had a very good first half and opened the scores through Janet Kazila in the early moments of the game before she added the second after converting from the penalty spot to complete her brace to make it 2-0 for the Coach Bernard Mwape Chisenga drilled lasses.

In the second half, Mufulira Wanderers led by coach Evans Kasapo came back a rejuvenated side and they scored 2 quick goals in a space of 4 minutes immediately after the break to unsettle ZISD thanks to goals from Mary Mulenga and Beatrice Chishala who put up an excellent shift equalized from the penalty spot and a rebound from an initial penalty miss to make it 2-2 in an intriguing encounter.

In this match, the recruit and a player who decided to play for Zambia ahead of the United States Bupe Okewo made her league debut for ZISD after she replaced Chikondi Esther Phiri to play the last 10 minutes of the game.

ZISD has 8 points from 12 games played and still occupying position 12 while Wanderers have 5 points on position 13 on the log standings.

ZISD’s next assignment this weekend is a home return match against National Assembly Women Football Club while Mufulira Wanderers were scheduled to take on Nkana but the Red Queens still have a pending issue in the FAZ Disciplinary Committee so all their games, for now, are forfeited.
