Women’s Leagues to conclude with teams playing equal games… Provincial Champions to meet for a playoff in Lusaka

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed that the top teams in the Provincial Women’s Leagues will meet for a playoff in Lusaka.

According to a circular by FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala addressed to club secretaries accessed by the ZamFoot Crew, The Provincial Women’s Leagues will conclude after teams play an equal number of games.

The teams will be expected to undergo COVID-19 tests before matches can take place.

“All the women team in each league will have to catch up with the teams that have played the most games. The top teams in each league will converge for playoffs in Lusaka. The winner of the playoffs will be crowned as national champions. All the Women teams should undergo COVID – 19 tests and the results must be obtained before the games are played.” read part of the circular.

Women’s Leagues are currently active only in four provinces, Lusaka, Copperbelt, Central and North Western.

Last year FAZ introduced the Women’s National Championship which saw Champions of the four provinces meeting in a mini-tournament which was hosted at Nkoloma Stadium with Green Buffaloes emerging as Champions after thrashing Queens Academy 9-0 in the final to pocket K40 000.
