Five clubs have registered their interest in winger Edward Lungu days after parting ways with 2025 ABSA Cup winners, ZESCO United the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.
Lungu is a free agent after leaving ZESCO United where he spent the last four years. The decision was made by mutual consent between the player and the club, marking the end of his tenure with the nine-time Zambian champions.
He joined the Ndola based outfit in July 2021. Lungu came to the limelight after a brilliant campaign with Kitwe United which earned him a National Team call up in May, 2021.
A ZamFoot Crew source in the players camp has told the ZamFoot Crew that five teams are after the speedy wingers signature.
āSo far five teams have registered their interest, one newly promoted super League side, two of those that were there last season and two from outside the country in the region,ā the source said.
āSo now it’s just about the player weighing his options with our guidance of course and seeing which project will suit him best.ā
āHe is thankful to ZESCO United for the time he spent at the club and now wants to get as much game time as he can. As you know is just in his early 20s so a lot of football in his future,ā the source added.
Lungu spent the 2023/2024 MTN Super League season on loan at Mighty Mufulira Wanderers before returning to ZESCO at the start of last season and was part of the record extending seventh ABSA Cup winning team.
