Will Charly star at Euro 2016 or he will honor Chipolopolo call?

Charly Musonda has hit the ground running in La Liga and is the most talked about teen footballer in Spain at the moment.

Chipolopolo coach George Lwandamina has wasted no time in showing that the skills of the young midfielder cannot pass unnoticed by giving the Belgian international who has Zambian parents a call to the Zambia national team stating that the lure of his heritage will be enough to convince the massively talented lad to don the Chipolopolo colors.

With the Euro 2016 around the corner (starting in June), George Lwandamina may just have put some subtle pressure for Belgium to give Musonda a cap at senior level which will tie him to the European nation. His talent and recent performances as a first team regular player at Real Betis are enough to suggest that he is knocking hard on the door for a place alongside Eden Hazard, Vincent Kompany, Romelu Lukaku and other Belgian stars who are regulars in the national team.

Betis coach Juan Merino said after the show he put on against Espanyol on Thursday: ‘I wish we had the option to buy him, he is fantastic.’

His price is rising with every game he plays and with Belgium coach Marc Wilmots in the crowd on Thursday  with a view to giving him an international call-up the valuation is only moving in one direction.

In just eight weeks he has made sure all cameras in Spain have been turned on him. They are used to seeing mesmerising skills from someone coming off the right touchline at Barcelona but on Thursday night it was not Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp it was Musonda at Espanyol’s Cornella-El Prat Stadium as he destroyed the city’s second team in Betis’ convincing 3-0 win – Pete Jenson MailOnline

However, a picture of Zambia’s sports minister Vincent Mwale with Mr and Mrs Musonda senior (parents to Charly) could trigger hope for the Chipolopolo that the talented lad may just be convinced to come and play for Zambia or at least his brother Lamisha or Tika who were also in the Chelsea youth team but are slowly falling off the radar.

It remains to be seen if the boy will agree and if FAZ will be able to afford paying this boy for playing for Zambia. He would benefit more playing for Belgium than Zambia, in terms of Euro or world cup football, monetary benefits, etc. I am sure the issue of patriotism vs money will come in, or purely he would just want to go with Belgium. We are yet to see. But knowing the Belgians, they are very ruthless when it comes to that. Just look at what happened to Lukaku. They quickly snapped him from Congo. In addition, I strongly believe these Musonda boys’ allegiance lies with Belgium. But it’s a good try by Lwandamina. Let’s wait and see what happens next. – Billy ZamFoot

Whether the lure to keep his parents heritage and an assurance for a first team place in the Chipolopolo squad will be enough to convince him to settle for 78th placed Zambia at the expense of 1st placed Belgium seems to be an easy decision for Charly that one can easily predict.

Do you think Charly will honor the call to play for Zambia?

  1. If u play your football politics outside the game of football, the guy can be a big hit…just to remind Charly Junior, he has a chance to become the next Messi, Drogba or any other player who put their country first…Many Nigerians have ended up regretting as they no longer add value in England e.g. Anouha, etc. Let the boy come and earn himself a big Name in Africa.

  2. He shud…why not. After all its us in zambia who started to build his football career.hence the son replicating skills too

  3. Great that our dear FAZ and Coach GL have made the most step important step of calling Musonda Jnr regardless of the outcome. Should he come great! Should he not, still great. Zambia will always part of the Musondas record. We shall still remain happy for the exploits of the Belgiun/Zambian. Shalom

  4. Another is DANNY MENSAH WELLBECK WHO CHOSE TO PLAY FOR ENGLAND AT THE EXPENSE OF HIS NATIVE COUNTRY GHANA….WHERE IS HE IN THE ENGLISH TEAM TODAY? ANSWER IS NOWHERE? BELGIUM HAVE TOO MANY STARS AND MAY ONLY ACCORD A CAP TO CHARLY AND AFTERWARDS DUMP HIM…THE BOY SHOULD BE WISE AND CHOOSE ZAMBIA

    • Mr BigSu,nice to your xplanations. I am a ghanaian
by birth..Let me explain or give you what an african born abroad to be a citizen to help his/her country of parients. Ghana had a lot of FOOTBALL representatives
whom played for Ghana or had a dual citensenships.

They played for the BLACK STARS but the bottomline at last of their carries are worse or bad than when they
didnt represents their countries of origins..

1, The country receives them anonymously like KINGS but when they flops its worse than receiving peanuts at the clubs that they plays.

2, When they gets older Africans dont even want to help them of their life insurances etc..

3,What they will recieves in the countries of birth as footballers doesnt exists in Africa.

I dont think LITTLE MISODA will change citensenship.
I believe? Charly will still exists as a BELGIUM
by citenships.Lwandamina did what he could do to
tell ZAMBIANS that he cares abt ZAMBIANS, hence that descisions. Anyway good luck to the CHIPOS..

  5. Lwandimina should call Mayuka. Let him be realistic and stop wasting our time with 2 useless strikers mulamo and patson daka

  6. Patson Daka is not yet ready for the senior team n should be replaced by an experienced sniper like Singuluma or Mayuka. We don’t want trial n error approach going into the AFCON n W Cup qualifiers.

  7. Faz shuld also summon Ndumba makeche. Coz hez more likely to accept th call up . If charly accepts (wch is a big doubt), t will b good for zambia nd would love to see th lubambo-Charly combination.

  8. Buh even Lwandamina knws tht th boy is not likely to accept th chipolopolo call up, buh just want to call him so tht th zambian soccer fans shuldnt blame him or faz wen th boy decides to play for Belgium.

  9. Watching the Musonda movie season 3 episode 8, can’t wait for 2moro’s episode 9, maybe the Father will respond as the Mother did in Episode 8. The Son will respond in Episode 10 on Monday and thereafter Maybe Lwandamina or Kalu will have a say in Episode 11. It is getting better and bigger day by day. Oooooh wat a nice soup opera

  10. It would have been nice to see our team look like this,1.Mweene 2.Kabaso 3.Mbola 4.Munthali 5.Sunzu 6.Sinkala 7.Kangwa 8.Chisamba 9.Kalengo 10.Kalaba 11.Charly. Sub:Mbesuma,Lubambo,Katebe,Singuluma,Nkausu,Mfune,Salulani,Mayuka,Luchanga,Kabamba and C Katongo.we are not short of good players pa zed.

  11. We are late to call Musonda Jr. that player was supposed to play at junior level. This time is almost a world star maybe he will accept but the chances are slim.Let Kalusha and the sports minister talk to both parents and give concrete reasons as to why it is beneficial for boy to done the Zambia national colours. And most important part is Kalusha to apologise to Musonda Sr if there is any rife between the two and this should be done in presence of mother to player and Lwandamina because the trio played together at `Mighty’.

  12. Lwandamina should equally call Tika and Lamisha, infact he should have started with these two as it will act as a bait to catch the more fancied Charly Jr. Tika and Lamisha will tell a story of how wonderful it is to play for Mother Zambia, of the thrill of the ardent Zambia fan, and with the examples of how the Whites can dump the young lad incase Belgium gives him a call , Charly will easily fall for Zambia.

  13. HERE IS A REPORT FROM ZAMBIA REPORTS

It’s Up To Charly Jr To Decide To Play For Zambia – Mother
Angela Musonda, the mother of sensational Chelsea midfielder Charles Musonda Jr, says the decision to feature for Zambia squarely rests on the 19-year-old.
Angela took to social media to respond to requests made through her inbox and that of her husband Charles Snr on whether their son will honour a call up to Zambia.
Chipolopolo stand-in coach George Lwandamina has extended a call up to the enterprising youngster who is turning statistics in Spain but sources suggest the former Mufulira Wanderers defender is playing to the gallery as the problem is bigger than meets the eye.
“Kindly stop harassing me or Charles Musonda via inbox requesting to know if Musonda will play for Zambia. Maybe you mean well, but hey it’s too much, stop it‼
“For your own information. He qualifies to play for Belgium and England too. But no one is bothering us from those 2 countries because they know that the decision is not theirs but the boy himself. Now twist this one as well if you are a hater. Go on,” Angela said.
Sources, however, state that it is difficult for Charles Musonda Snr to play for Zambia as long as FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya is directly involved in the management of the game.
According to the source, Bwalya and Musonda have never enjoyed a good relationship from their playing days.
Their relations, according to a source, hit rock bottom when Musonda had been called to play for the senior national team in the late 90s.
Kalusha made a comment mocking Musonda’s nagging knee injury that had blighted his career.
“Kalusha one told his brother Joe (Bwalya); kuti muleikala shani pa bench but ifilema fileteya. This was in the presence of other team mates and Charles himself heard.
“At that point, he vowed never to play for Zambia or have anything to do with Zambian football as long as Kalusha was involved,” the source said.
“In case you want proof, have you ever heard Kalusha say anything positive about Charles’ son?”
Charly Jr is a sensational player and is making headlines in Europe with his skill and talent.

  14. When the father to the boy Charles Musonda became a star in that Anderlecht fc lineup and played in that cup final in 1984 European club champions cup against Sampdoria fc he became very unpatriotic to this country and people in FAZ that time had to plead with him to play for Zambia and he would put in a lot of demands before taking to the pitch! Do you imagine such a person who now feels more European than White Europeans can allow his boy to play for an African country!

    • ——————> ANITA, ITS NOT MUSONDAS IDEOLOGY TO ASK IN SOME QUESTIONS TO FAZ IN THE 90S..

AFRICANS, CHARACHTERISTICS TO FOREIGN PLAYERS ARE IN DISLUTIONS. THERE

      • ——-> THERE ARE SOME INCENTIVES THAT AFRICANS DONT PAY T5O FOREIGN PLAYERS..

I BELIVE MUSONDA -AS U CALL HIM A WHITE EUROPEAN WILL ALLOW HIS SON LITTLE CHARLY TO PLAY FOR THE ZAMBIAN CHIPOS..

  15. People! Surely you can get the arrogance in the language of the mother to this boy. Let’s do with what is there and forget about this family. This family, if you listen carefully feel embarrassed being associated to an african country, they have that inferiority complex about who they really are! Education!

  16. I Charly Musonda Sr was offered the Coaching Job for Chipolopolo I bet it would be his wife making the line-up in the sidelines as she seems to have more influence than hunby

    • Bigsu walasa! It seems this woman is the one making decisions for Mr. Musonda. Big Muzo open your eyes and decide what is best for your children.

  17. Charles musonda is very unpatriotic even when kalu was not in charge he punished Zambia for for the sin of one man
yes kalu and musonda have difficulties but surely musonda must not punish the country
musonda and the wife they think they are European
why can’t they learn from Drogba, kanote
    yes the boy is belgiuan
They will give him one cup and forget about him
    who will replace
Kevin debrune or hazard to mention but a few. ..
Belgium has so many established stars let not the boy regret afterwards
my point is playing for Belgium can be good in terms of monetary
but playing for Zambia will be great for his legendary career ahead
musonda and Angela pls advise your son with multitude of counsellors for your decision to be well imformed
to the people who are saying faz is too late for this ..It’s not faz it’s the Zambian constitution which at the time could not allow dual citizenship
whatever the outcome Zambia chalo cesu

  18. The wife appears to be a very difficult person and she has a strong influence over her family. Nice try Ba Lwandamina but it appears the boy belongs to Belgium.

  19. Let’s jst watch and admire him but playin 4 Zed will b pushin our optimism too far. That jst aint gonna happen sori pipo.#gonna live it rite here.

  20. We are wasting time on this unpatriotic boy and his parents. Can we call Mayuka he’s red hot in Egypt. Mayuka is more important than this boy who will just be a bench warmer in belgium. Belgium will never win a trophy in international football. Leave them alone.

  21. The good example is kanute of Mali he choose to play 4 France but his plan tayabombele until aya ku Mali so it same to charly tabalaba okowafuma home is home no matter what

  22. I would not want to carry something that happened in the 1990s into the 2000s. The kids have nothing to do if there was any “beef” between their dad and someone way back before they were born.

Let him play for whatever team he wants. That’s my take. We will respect his decision.

    • KWAME IS WELL BEHIND YOUR DESCISION OF LETTING
      LITTLE MUSONDA DECIDE FOR HIMSELF.

HE IS A 19 YEAR OLD KID , HE KNOWS WAT IS RIGHT AND WAT IS WRONG.. GOD HELP HIM ? FOR HIS DESCISIONS.

    • It is gud Charly jnr to come and play to chipolopolo team and we’ll be hapy if he mek his discion to play in zed

  23. We Are Not Grad To See Musonda Praying To Other Country. Can We find Suggetions To Visit His Parents And Tell Him Buck To The Owner Chipolopolo Team .
