Indeni Roses Head Coach Benson Chambeshi has disclosed that his main aim in the game against Lusaka Dynamos, a match they lost 1-0, over the past weekend was to pick up maximum points.
Chambeshi who spoke to the ZamFoot Crew after the match feels that his strikers were not aggressive upfront, which he says they will work on going into their next assignment.
Chambeshi told the ZamFoot Crew that he was not happy with the result but he will continue pushing his lasses going forward.
“It’s not a good result for Indeni. We have just entered into the new league and this is only week 4.
We planned to pick points and consolidate the wins in the league. For now, we have to push and talk to the players so that we plan for the next game,” he said.
“We were not aggressive up front so we need to change the system and see how we can improve on that so we can score goals.”
The Indeni gaffer also said that the absence of some of the key players due to national team engagement (Catherine Musonda and Grace Nanyinza) and injuries (Misozi Zulu, Rhoda Chileshe, and Thelma Phiri) affected the team’s game plan but he was quick to acknowledge the adaption from his new players.
“These players have been together for a long time and some are with the National Team and others are injured and these are key players it affected the game plan, though the new ones whom we have recruited are easily adapting we just have to push them,” Chambeshi said.
Coach Chambeshi was also quick to express his happiness with regards to the start of the national league which he said has brought a lot of competition both in the super and provincial leagues.
“This is a step forward. We have been playing Provincial League. Now we have the super league which is good and it has brought a lot of competition in women’s football because the best 14 teams have been selected,” he said.
“Those provincial teams are also targeting to qualify to the super league, so this ladder brings competition too because teams will have to fight to make it to the super league.”
The Roses lost 1-nil to The Elite Ladies, Lusaka Dynamos with the only goal scored by Comfort Selemani in the 17th minute of the game.
Roses’ next assignment is a home game against Zambia Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club at Indeni Sports Complex.
