Chipolopolo Boys interim coach Moses Sichone says the team knows that they are playing a team tough, Bafana Bafana.
Zambia and South Africa will lock horns on Saturday afternoon at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha at 15h00.
Sichone says the Chipolopolo Boys are taking this match against World Cup bound Bafana Bafana very seriously.
“First of all, I would like to thank SAFA for this gesture that we are supposed to play against South Africa. We really appreciate it. And over the game, we know we are playing a tough team which has done wonders. They have qualified for the World Cup. So, of course, we expect a good, friendly game. We are looking forward to it. That’s all I can say,” he said.
“And then we’ve qualified for the AFCON . We have a mix-up of experienced players and young players. So, we are looking forward to tomorrow’s game because it’s part of AFCON as well. So, we are taking this game so seriously and seeing what the outcome is tomorrow (today).”
Sichone was also quick to praise South Africa boss Hugo Broos who led South Africa to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“If a team has qualified for the World Cup and looking at where South Africa is coming from, I must commend the coach. He has done a great job for what he has assembled so far. We have watched South Africa, you know, changing the type of football that they have been playing so far. So, we expect, you know, a tough game and, yeah, we are looking forward to that,” he said.
The former Chipolopolo defender also revealed that the technical bench will use the game to see who is ready to compete at the high level and show their talent.
“To see who is ready and also how far they, if at all they can compete at this high level playing South Africa. So, it’s an opportunity for them. It also gives us the technical bench a chance to see who is ready, you know, as they can compete to see who is ready and who is ready to show his talent, you know. So, this is why, you know, we are happy to give everyone the chance,” he said.
