Chipolopolo skipper Fashion Sakala says the Chipolopolo Boys have a good team that has the capacity to compete at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Sakala says the blend of youth and experience is a weapon for the Chipolopolo Boys.
The Chipolopolo Boys will open their AFCON campaign on Monday morning against Mali.
The Al Fahya forward says the team is highly motivated and ready to fight for the flag in tomorrow’s game against Mali.
“I believe that the team is in a much better state now. We are much more ready for this tournament, compared to the first tournament that I played in . We are very much ready to fight for this trophy, obviously. I believe, even for me, it was my first time. I didn’t expect the tournament to be that difficult. Obviously, the feeling that I had after the first Africa Cup that I played, I think I realised how tough the tournament is and how important the preparation should be as a team,” he said.
“And I believe that we prepared well. We have a very good team, a team of young players who are ready to compete, and obviously to show the talent that we have as a team. So, I’m very much excited for the tournament, and I believe that we have a very good team.We have a team with the capacity to compete well at this AFCON.”
“The mix of experienced and young players in the squad is one of our strengths at this AFCON. We are highly motivated especially for tomorrow’s game. We are ready to fight for our flag,” Sakala added.
Zambia begins its AFCON campaign against Mali as the team looks to make a strong statement in their opening game against the Eagles of Mali.
The match will be played tomorrow, December 22, 2025, at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, with kick-off set for 16:00 local time and will be live on ZNBC and SuperSport.
