We don’t have any serious Injuries – Dr. Ngongo

Zambia U-17 national team Doctor, Wesley Ngongo says the team doesn’t have any serious injuries only minor knocks as they head into a 3-team pre-AFCON tournament.

Speaking from Rabat Morroco, Dr. Ngongo said the team has also been cleared and has no positive case of the COVID-19 virus.

“So in terms of the health status of the players mostly we just have minor knocks involving people’s feet, two players with minor knocks which shouldn’t stop them training and playing, later on, the only injury was to Nelson Banda who sustained a contusion before we traveled to Morocco so we managed him and we are still managing him as of yesterday he managed to participate in two training sessions,” he said.

On the covid tests, Dr. Ngongo had this to say: Before departure to Morocco we did a test at home in Lusaka and everyone who was tested was negative, and as we got down here (Rabbat) on Friday evening we had a covid test and once again everyone was negative so we are scheduled to have a test either tonight or tomorrow with high hopes of recording a zero positive case but meanwhile we are keeping sensitizing the players and technical bench on the dangers and ways of preventing covid as it might affect the teams’ performance,” he concluded.

The young copper bullets are currently based in Rabat ahead of a pre-tournament which will see them battle with the likes of west African giants Nigeria, Cameroon, and FUS Rabat U17.

Zambia is in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Uganda, and Ivory Coast, who will battle in the opener on March 14 at the Moulay Hassan stadium.
