Avram Grant believes Zambia did not deserve to lose against Tanzania.
The Chipolopolo Boys suffered a 1-0 home defeat against the Taifa Stars in a FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier.
The Israeli coach was left frustrated following what he describes as a ‘one sided’ match.
“We dominated completely. Our goalkeeper almost didn’t touch the ball. We hit the woodwork three times,” the former Chelsea Manager said in a post match interview.
“We dominated but we couldn’t find a way to score goals even when we had the chance to do that and then. On the other side, one mistake cost. I am very frustrated about this.“

“To be honest, the last two games have been very frustrating, especially the last game since it was one-sided,”
“I think we did good work in the last year and a half. We were just unlucky [today]. We hit the bar, we were close to scoring goals and from just one chance, they scored a goal.
So it’s very frustrating, but I think we have a good team,” he said.
Zambia’s dream of a maiden FIFA World Cup appearance is evaporating.
The Chipolopolo Boys have suffered three defeats in a row and are 6 points behind leaders Morocco.
I think what u Zambians don’t know is this Tanzania Premier league is in Africa’s top five best league and it’s not by default
We are doing something from local to international club competition by investing a lot
GRANTS MUST RESPECT US
we showed him something in Afcon and he thought it was by coincidence but that’s what our game plan
Once you visit someone’s house first you must get a goal and defend…. that’s what happened on yesterday’s game
Imagine, without Mbwana Samatta, Kelvin John (Mbape of Genk ) and Miroshi still Zambia suffered from our 75% local league players
We know how to waste money in Africa. Some of these coaches not worthy having them. At times we think like children.
Dear Grant and other Zambians, you have to understand Tanzanian football today is very good compared to those days. You have to replace what is in your long memories.Yes you did hit the post several times but that was our game plan.Natumiponona!
Tanzania is now leading in soccer across East Africa and central with exceptional to DRC.When you are away you must apply strategic play.once you score a goal you concentrate on defending what you have in hand .So chipolopolo we’re left to dominant the game but not to score the goal and game plan became effective. All in all Chipolopolo have no quality coach they must find another coach to replace the incumbent
