Wada Wada to switch from 4-1-3-2 to 4-2-3-1 against Cameroon

Chipolopolo Boys coach Wedson ‘Wada Wada’ Nyirenda is set to ditch the formation he used against Nigeria to a more balanced and cautious one against Cameroon for this Saturday’s crunch Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

And Zambianfootball.co.zm can exclusively reveal that Wada Wada is set to make 2-3 changes from the team which lost at home to Nigeria.

“Going by the way the team lined up on Thursday, it’s looks like Ziyo (Tembo) and Kondwani (Mtonga) will definitely start,” Henri Aboubakar, a ZamFoot Crew’s West African correspondent said

This means that Zanaco captain Ziyo Tembo will come in for Adrian Chama who had a poor game against Nigeria while Kondwani, who replaced Chama in the same game, is set to start in midfield and not in central defence.

The back four is expected to have Kabaso Chongo, Ziyo, Sunzu and Fackson Kampumbu while Kondwani will partner Nathan Sinkala in midfield.

The front four picks itself with Rainford Kalaba in the hole while Chisamba Lungu and Fwayo Tembo are expected to be the wide men.

“Seems like the coach is showing a lot of Faith in Evans Kangwa and one of the front players might just make way for him in the starting line up,” Aboubakar added.

Upfront South African based hitman Collins Mbesuma is likely to start as a lone striker.

On the goalkeeping situation, Aboubakar said ‘you can’t just throw away all the experience Mweene has unless if you have a better option.’

Well, it’s done Kennedy Mweene will be between the posts as the challenger Jacob ‘Spiderboy’ Banda will continue in his role as the deputy.

Zambia Probable XI: 16. Kennedy Mweene – 12. Kabaso Chongo, 2. Ziyo Tembo, 13. Stopilla Sunzu, 3. Fackson Kampumbu – 19. Nathan Sinkala, 15. Kondwani Mtonga – 10. Fwayo Tembo, 17. Rainford Kalaba, 11. Chisamba Lungu – 9. Collins Mbesuma

From Nigeria game: Adrian Chama will start on the bench while injured Winstone Kalengo was left behind.

Wildcard: Don’t be shocked if you see Evans Kangwa start.

  1. its a balanced squad despite mayuka and David nkausa and Musonda were not called for this crucial game. I edge the coach to put note emphasis on players and maintain there position

  2. Ziyo tembo should show the character he shows at Zanaco. He is definitely a good defender unlike that Ka Chama. Zambia missed AFCON 2017 bcoz of that stupid back header . he did more rubbish in the game against Nigeria so why is he in Cameroon anyway. The best Zambia can achieve is a draw in this game coz each time i remember the 5-1 weaping ku afcon awe sure

  3. Am so glad this match will be televised together with the Nig vs Alg match on bien sports channel. Please guys do away with selfishness n work together to accomplish a common goal…..which is to win the match regardless who scores. All the best !

  4. Some analysts awe sure how on earth do one compare a left back or rather a full back to a central defender watch football folks and the lad with the afcon costing back header was made by that stupid lad mkandawira and not chama

  5. Wishing de best but a 4.4.2 formation can be better 4 a fast playing team like Cameroon & pliz use chansa in place of chama who is slow,u can only bring him later bcoz mbesuma is not gud playing as de only striker upfront unless on 10 position bcoz he is able 2 dribble while kalengo or kangwa can b doing de finishing part more over mbesuma can’t run fast meaning he hashas no speed.

  6. The formation ok, the back four doubtful, the holding midfielder better, sinkala does with a helper.. the attacking is safe. just worried on the finishers..who is going to start…. ?
