The Zambia U-23 National Team will face off with the Niger counterparts this afternoon in an international friendly match.
The match will be used as preparation for the two legged U23 final round qualifiers against Egypt and Sudan respectively.
Osward Mutapa’s team landed at the Diori Hamani International Airport on Thursday afternoon and a loosening session led by physical Trainer Christopher Katongo.
The team also had an aerobics session early this morning to complete their recovery after the long flight to West Africa.
In Zambia U-20 goalminder Levison Banda, Francis Mwansa of Trident) and Mukuka Chilufya of Aguila Stars will battle for the starting slot.
In defense, Happy Nsiku, Mathews Chabala, Chikondi Njobvu and John Chishimba are expected to make up the back four.
In midfield, John Kosamu, Joshua Mutale and Patrick Gondwe are likely to start with options in Prince Mumba, Martin Zulu and Wilson Chisala.
Upfront, Andrew Phiri is expected to lead the attack supported by Golden Mashata on the wings.
Jimmy Mukeya, Ricky Banda and Martin Njobvu are also available for selection. Kick off in Niger is set at 17:30 Zambian time.
Zambia will be away to Egypt in the first leg on March 22nd with the second leg set for the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on March 27th.
Winner over both legs will qualify for the 2023 U23 TotalEnergies Africa Cup which will be held later this year in November.
