The Zambia U20 National Team were dumped out of the TotalEnergies CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations following a 1-1 draw with South Africa’s Amajita on Friday evening.
South Africa struck first at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium through Kutlwano Letlhaku, who calmly finished in the 8th minute from close range following a swift break led by Mfundo Vilakazi.
Zambia however equalized four minutes later through Bonephanseo Phiri, who slotted home from the centre of the box after a pinpoint cross from David Hamansenya.
Levinson Banda was called into action multiple times and had to make important saves to keep the match level.
On the opposite end, Perkins Mumba Mwale who came off the bench had a chance to win it in added time only to be denied by a brilliant save.
The result meant Zambia are booted out of the Competition on the day Keith Mweemba ascended to power as new FAZ President while South Africa progressed to the quarter finals.
