The Zambia U18 Girls came alive on Thursday morning putting three past hosts Turkey to register their first win ong the U18 Women’s UEFA Friendship tournament.
After a loss in the penalty shootouts in the opening match against Colombia, the Florence Mwila coached side finally found their goal scoring form netting three unanswered goals.
Nchanga Rangers winger Tricia Mabamba opened the scoring in the 20th minute after benefiting from a mistake by the goalkeeper.
Ruth Muwowo doubled the lead in the 70th minute after another error at the back, the COSAFA U20 Women’s Championship top goalscorer with a composed finish to double the Young Copper Queens advantage.
Gift Kalwizhi then completed the win with a fine finish in the dying minutes as Zambia shot to the summit of their group with 3 points.
Zambia’s next Group A match will be against Thailand on 6 April.
