The Zambia U17 Women’s National Team will look to seal their qualification to the final round of the 2025 U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers this afternoon when they welcome Tanzania.
The Copper Princesses saw off Tanzania 3-0 in the first leg giving them an upper hand going into this game.
A brace from captain Mercy Chipasula and a goal from Grace Phiri was enough to give the Carol Kanyemba coached side a comfortable win.
With a place in the third and final round of qualifiers at stake, Zambia will be looking to finish the job in front of their home fans.
Coach Carol Kanyemba confirmed she will start the match with the strong team that played away in Dar.
“We are not doing trial and error, so we will maintain the team we started with in Tanzania because the game is not yet over. The players who started understand the tension and the pressure the game had in Tanzania. We expect to start with the same team we started with and make changes according to the flow of the game,” she said.
Bukata Kakumbi is expected to start between the sticks with Lweendo Hanongo, Natasha Nkaka, Precious Mwape and Nana Malanda making up the back four.
In midfield, Hellen Banda is expected to be joined by Lilian Mwenda and Taonga Mubanga.
Upfront, Mercy Chipasula is exoecocered to lead the attack alongside Ruth Mukoma and Grace ‘Pogba’ Phiri.
Kick-off for the match is set for 15h00 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium and tickets available from as low as K20 via Computicket in all Shoprite stores.
The winner over the two legs will advance to face either Benin or DR Congo in the last hurdle before securing a ticket to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup set for Morocco later this year.
