Luyando Foundation Girls defender Precious Mwape is a doubt for Monday’s U17 Women’s World Cup encounter against Poland.
Mwape sustained a minor ankle injury during the Copper Princesses’ 1-0 loss to Brazil on Friday.
Team Doctor Lalisa Nambeye told the ZamFoot Crew in an interview that Mwape was being monitored and on rest but not yet ruled out of the Poland clash.
Dr. Nambeye said the medical team will assess Mwape tomorrow before making a final decision on her availability for Monday’s encounter.
“The team is doing very well, we have acclimatised well, as you it’s very hot, very humid so we are doing a lot of rehydration and electrolyte replenishment,” Dr Nambeye said.
“So during our last game, Precious Mwape, suffered a minor injury, she twisted her ankle. We are observing her, she is not yet ruled out of the next game but we are making sure that she is fit and back on the pitch hopefully by the next game but she is currently on rest and we will see how she will do tomorrow. The other players are all doing well, no serious or major injuries have occurred.”
The Copper Princesses will be looking to dust off their opening match loss to Brazil when they lock horns with debutants Poland who drew with Japan.
Kick off at the Felix Sanchez stadium for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic 2024 second Group D Match against Poland is set at O1h00CAT.
