The Zambia U17 and U20 national teams will this Sunday know their opponents at next years CAF junior championships finals to be played in Niger and Senegal respectively.
The draws for the two tournaments will be made at the CAF headquarters starting at 0900hrs.
The U17 tournament will run from February 15 to March 1 with the semi finalists qualifying for the FIFA World Cup to be played in Chile. The U20 tournament will be played from March 8 to March 22 and the semi finalists at this tournament will qualify for the FIFA world cup in New Zealand.
The U17 team coached by Chris Kaunda will be joined by Niger (hosts), Cameroon, South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali and Nigeria. Ghana had initially qualified but were later disqualified for fielding an ineligible player and replaced by Cameroon.
The teams in the draw for the U20 tournament are Senegal (hosts), South Africa, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali and Nigeria.
This is the first time that the Zambia U17 team will be participating in the continental championship.
