U17 AFCON: Possible Combinations for Bakala’s troops against 

The Zambia U17 National team will kick off their TotalEnergies U17 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign this afternoon with a tricky encounter against Tanzania. 

The ZamFoot Crew now looks at the possible combination that coach Ian Bakala could line up today as they take on the East African Nation. 

In Goal, Shamuel Soccer Academy’s Rogers Simumba is expected to start between the sticks ahead of William Zulu and Christo Chitambala. 

In defense, The skipper Jonathan Kalimina will start at left back as he leads his side with Andrew Mwape likely to start at right back. 

At the heart of defense Young Crocs duo of Saviour Mwansa and George Mwale are likely  to make up a strong partnership with James Nene Sibeene also offering that option. 

In midfield, Makeni All Stars Mike Mutale is expected to be joined by the versatile James Nene Sibeene of Sporting Lusaka and Ntasilwe Malupande of Kafue Celtic. 

On the wings the smooth Criminal Mapalo Simute who was Zambia’s best player at COSAFA U17 Championship will start on the left wing with Forest Rangers’ Kelvin Mulenga. 

COSAFA U17 Championship golden boot winner Abel Salim Nyirongo is expected to lead the attack. 

Off the bench Coach Ian Bakala could bring on the fan favorite from COSAFA U17 Championship, Robert ‘Sugar Sugar’ Banda, A Sporting Lusaka product with an eye for goal and incredible skill on the ball. 

Nkwazi’s Billy Daka, Vincent Mutondo and Daniel Silubonde are also available for selection. 

Ian Bakala’s Boys will face Tanzania in the opener  at 16h00 at the El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia. 

In the opening match of Group A, Morocco thrashed Uganda 5-0 yesterday.
