U-23 AFCONQs: Zambia eye qualification to final round

The Zambia U23 will be looking to seal their qualification to the final round of the Morocco 2023 U23 AFCON Qualifiers. 

The Young Bullets welcome Sierra Leone in the second round final leg qualifier at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka at 15:00hrs. 

The two teams played out to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Monrovia, Liberia last weekend. 

Coach Oswald Mutapa will look to the likes of Joshua Mutale, Patrick Gondwe and Golden Mashata to inject the much needed creativity into the team this afternoon. 

Upfront Mutapa has options in NAPSA Stars ‘ Jimmy Mukeya, Enock Sakala Jnr and MUZA goal poacher Andrew Phiri. 

COSAFA U-20 Championship goalkeeper of the tournament Jeban Tembo is expected to start in goal. 

Mutapa may also call on U-20 COSAFA stars like Charles Majapa Mumba, Dominic Kanda, Chipyoka Songa and Emmanuel Mukosha 

Zambia only has one injury absentee in right-back Brian Musema who limped off in the 59th minute of the first leg.

Kick-off is at 15h00 and the match will be broadcast live on ZNBC TV 3 on TopStar. Tickets are also available from as low as K20 at WebTicket in Northmead and Pick n Pay outlets at Makeni Mall, Novare Great North Mall and Society Business Park.

The winner on Saturday will face Egypt or Eswatini in the final round to be played next March.

Egypt and Eswatini are in action on Sunday in Alexandria battling with a 0-0 first leg deadlock.
