U-20 AFCON: Zambia in Benin test

The Zambia U-20 national team will start their 2023 Egypt Africa Cup of Nations campaign this evening when they take on Benin.

Chisi Mbewe’s men are eying a slot in the 2023 Indonesia FIFA U-20 World Cup.

COSAFA U20 Championship goalkeeper of the tournament Jeban Tembo is expected to start between the sticks ahead of Levison Banda and Eric Makungu.

Happy Nsiku, Amon Chulu, Lombe Mutale and Gift Mphande are expected to make up the back four and protect Jeban’s goal from Benin attacks.

Skipper Dominic Kanda will hope to inspire his peers from the midfield alongside Atletico Lusaka duo of Julius Kumwenda and Charles Majapa Mumba.

In attack, Chipyoka Songa, Peter Chikola and Derrick Bulaya are likely to lead the charge for maximum points.

Mbewe has other options in Kingston Mutandwa, Moses Mulenga, Lasmond Phiri and Rickson Ng’ambi.

Kickoff is at 19:00 (CAT) at the iconic Alexandria Stadium with the game live on SuperSport.

In the other Group C match Tunisia will face Gambia.
