Zambia coach Avram Grant is expected to name two local players in Saturday’s starting line up against Ivory Coast, the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.
According to the ZamFoot Crew insiders at Ndola’s Trade Fair Grounds, the Israeli coach will maintain a host players who won back to back games against Lesotho.
Red Arrows captain Benedict Chepeshi and Zesco United Kelvin Kapumbu will be the only locally based players in the starting XI.
“Its difficult to figure out his starting XI but it seems like Ben [Benedict Chepeshi] and Kel [Kelvin Kapumbu] will start,” the ZamFoot Crew source said.
With Benson Sakala not in the team, Kapumbu is only recognized holding midfielder.
He replaced Benson Sakala in the second half against Lesotho in March.
Rumoured with a move away from Nkoloma Stadium, Chepeshi’s position in the team is not that straight forward.
While Chepeshi and Rodrick Kabwe are the obvious options, there’s a budding pair which is causing the experience duo sleepless nights.
Zesco United’s Samson M’kandawire and Nkwazi’s Pride Mwansa have accounted well as Chepeshi and Kabwe’s understudies.
