Tunisia biggest winners as DRC hold Cape Verde

Tunisia were the biggest winners on match day two in group B of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournament after they held on to the top position following a goalless draw between Cape Verde and Congo DR (DRC).

Tunisia now lead group B on four points while Cape Verde and DRC moved into joint second position on two points with the same goal difference.

Zambia are bottom of the group with just a point in two games.

The winners of the group will be decided on the final day of the group stage matches and all four teams will need nothing less than a win to ascertain their qualification.

The result does not change anything for the Honour Janza coached side as they just have to get maximum points in the final match and hope DRC does not beat Tunisia.

A win for DRC and Zambia in their final games will secure passage for Tunisia as Tunisia will peep Zambia on head to head. The mathematics will then have to be between DRC and Zambia for the second qualification spot.

  1. Zambia Is qualifying. Tunisia cannot lose to drc because if they lose and cape Verde win Tunisia is out. Thus Tunisia will play for at least a draw. Zambia only needs a 1-0 to qualify let’s rally behind our boys I think they can do it.

  2. This is actually a more favourable position in my opinion because if we are playing for a win there is more impetus to perform. If we are playing for a draw, we usually lose.

  3. Ma rubish its u guys who cant rally behind ur team even when they play their lungs out. You guys make me laugh didnt u see Facao miss clear cut chances. What did u want Janza to do under such circumstances u wanted him to walk inside and score himself foolish pipo full of negativity. Mind u FAZ has brought in an expert technitian to help in reading the game and if Tunisia changes the whole team thru substitions u expect zambia to do the same what shallow thinking. The team just lost coz the lads lost the much needed concentration at the back. The team must learn to protect a goal whenever they score. Something must be done in that area seal those holes and we shall qualify. We can do it agaist Cape Vade. Let Tunisia beat Congo and we win then we are thru anything is possible and we remain positive!!!

  4. @ Brave Nchanga that’s y we’re blaming the coach, yes the guys missed chances but eventually we managed to score, and after we scored we were supposed to protect our lead and he should have brought in players who could have helped in that aspect e.g. Malama or Sautu, it wasn’t necessary for him to continue playing with three strikers when we needed to defend our lead.

but even the time Tunisia scored we had an upper hand in the game it didn’t seem conventional to change anything, we got unfortunate to concede that goal much as we were wasteful. After that goal the team lost control and became confused.
I don’t think we can put the whole blame on Janza, I think the team played well and with that formation they were supposed to put the game off by completely by 65min. I didn’t agree with Janza though with subsequent substitutions he may after conceding that goal.

  5. Zambia has always been like that, if they score they fail to organize themselves for more elective offensive. Usually their lead last less than 10 minutes. To make matters worse even the technical bench watches this scenario without any remedies.

  6. People I think its not fair to blame the coach, we played well the team composition was ok, atleast we saw the hunger and determination in the coach and players…..we were just unfortunate, we will qualify people let’s just rally behind the team.
