Zesco United coach Mathews ‘Tshebeleza’ Ndhlovu says his club will have to win home games to keep their CAF Confederation Cup campaign alive.
And skipper Lindo Mkhonta says the players are inspired by the 2016 semifinal milestone and are motivated to replicate that performance.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference for the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Group D match between Zesco United and Al Masry, Ndhlovu said Zesco United had picked insights from their Match Day One loss to Egyptian giants Zamalek.
He said the technical bench had prepared well for tomorrow’s match set for the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola tomorrow (Friday) at 15h00.
“The overall team of Zesco United means business; each and every player who is part of the team is able to deliver when given a chance. Time has come that now that these others (players) should rise to the occasion and perform for mother Zambia as well as deliver for Zesco United,” Ndhlovu says.
“Us as Zesco we are playing at home this time around, our approach will be, how do we utilize our chances which we create? Making sure that we are also disciplined at the back because it is about points. Each and every game we play points are very vital, when you are playing at home you need to make sure that you utilize the home ground advantage and be free to perform to the fullest more especially that our twelfth player will be there.”
Skipper Mkhonta says the squad is ready to bounce back from the Match Day One loss to Zamalek by getting a positive results against Al Masry.
“We have worked very hard and are ready for tomorrow’s match,” he says.
