This cup belongs to Kitwe, Ndola and Lusaka in that line- Lwandamina

Zesco United coach George Lwandamina believes Green Eagles were desperate to win the league and take the title to Southern Province for the first time in the history of the league.

Lwandamina, however, feels this was the Ndola giants time to win it and hopes Eagles can do better next time. The Zesco United boss also jokingly insinuated that the league belonged to teams along the line of rail, Those in Ndola, Kitwe, and Lusaka.

“It was a very tough game, They really wanted to take it to Southern Province but this Cup belongs to Kitwe, Ndola, and Lusaka along that line anyway it was worth the final,” Lwandamina told the ZamFoot Crew in an interview.

” They have improved so well and we just hope they will do better this time around it was ours, ” he added.

Team Ya Ziko beat the Kawale boys 3-1 on post-match penalties following a nil-nil draw in regulation time to win the league for the third time in a row and eighth overall.

Eagles missed all their first three spot-kicks taken by Gift Wamundila, Tapson Kaseba, and Sam Chilupe. Marcel Kalonda missed for Zesco United while Clement Mwape, Mwila Phiri and Jacob Banda scored to win the match for Team Ya Ziko.

Lwandamina also revealed that he was looking to beef up his squad. Zesco United lost their star forward Lazarus Kambole who joined South Africa PSL side Kaizer Chiefs.

“I will look for maybe one or two players,” he said.

The league win takes Zesco United to third place on the overall list and just four behind Nkana who have won the most league titles (12).
